A Primary School publication

Welcome to the third of our new, weekly letters about the events taking place in the Pre/Primary School for City, National & Zek Campus.

Thursday & Friday of last week proved to be extremely busy days for all of our campuses while they celebrated Maths Day. Our students made tremendous efforts with their costumes and Head of Mathematics, Ms Cosnett, and our Pre/Primary staff worked really hard to bring together all the activities, puzzles & games for the students to make Maths Day a brilliant success. Thank you again to all of our staff, student volunteers and to our Pre/Primary students for your hard work and effort; it was a great way to end the school week and see us in to the weekend.

This week, we will be sharing a variety of activities with some of the work from our National school garden, City campus Year 2 History trip with Ms Guzel & Ms Anderson, the ECA Newspaper Club's latest edition and some very talented artwork from our students, to name but a few.

And thank you to those who have taken the time to read our first few editions and provided us with feedback. This is a great way for us to curate the content you want. We've listened to your ideas and will be adding some additional features from next week. Stay tuned and please keep your suggestions coming!...

Enjoy the read!

Year 2 City Campus History Trip

Alison Guzel and Lorraine Anderson: City Campus Year 2 Teachers

The Year 2 children from the City campus recently visited Rumeli Hisari Fortress. We are studying 1453 - The Conquest of Constantinople in History and this is the castle Sultan Mehmed built to get ready for his attack on Constantinople.
We had a great time finding evidence about why the fortress was built in this location and what life would have been like living in the castle.
Year 3L National School Garden Project

Ms Lloyd - Year 3 National School Teacher :

The students in Year 3 would like to take the garden very seriously and have cleverly made a video, which I have filmed using our new video camera.

Their writing genre this term is writing explanation texts. They have brought their understanding to life by explaining how our National School garden should work.
Our Year 3L National School students, along with their teacher (Ms Lloyd) show us around the beautiful National school garden.
Year 3 National School Re-cycle Initiative

Ms Lloyd and the Year 3 students have been very busy in recent weeks and this week parents were sent the below incentive led by our students to re-use bottle tops for their art projects.

These can be bottle tops from drinks, milk cartons, cooking oils and any other bottle tops you might have lying around waiting for the bin. Please don't throw them away; come over to our National school and drop them off in the handy drop-off point in the National school entrance corridor.

(Please make sure they are washed beforehand).

Many thanks!
Below you can see the drop-off point in the entrance corridor of the National school, for anyone who has bottle tops to donate.
Year 6 City Campus Art Science Work

Ms. Dereboy - Year 6 City Campus Teacher:

In year 6 we combine art lessons with science. These are some of the clay eyes made by students in the city campus.
City Campus Reception Class Artwork on Planets

Ms Emma: City Campus Reception Teacher:

Here are a couple of pictures from an activity we did in Frogs Class (Reception city) this week. We looked at some incredible close up pictures of Jupiter. Later in the week, the children had a go at painting their own patterns, inspired by these photos.
Our City Art students meticulously painting their own interpretations of Jupiter - very impressive work!
And this week, our special birthday wishes go to...

          Nidal (20th)
   Nilsa (22nd)
       Yasmina (24th)

Happy Birthday to you all from everyone at BISI!
