Volume 1 Number 1
Week in, Week out
A Pre & Primary School publication

Hello! and welcome to our new, weekly Newsletter for our Pre/Primary schools. Here we will be sharing with you our weekly activities and events which are happening throughout the schools and sharing with you every Friday. In previous years we have shared with you the monthly Newsletter, however, we decided to change the format slightly and offer you a weekly one instead, which we have been doing for our Secondary school, with great success. So far, the feedback has been really positive, as we give parents an opportunity to have a glimpse at the day-to-day goings on in our schools, as well as the regular items you're used to seeing in the monthly Newsletter.

'Week in' will cover activities which have taken place in the same week the newsletter is published and 'Week out' will give you a glimpse at what is coming up in our schools the following week. We have featured a few events in this edition which have already taken place in previous weeks, but we didn't want you to miss out on anything from the last few weeks in the run-up to this first publication, so this week we have a few exceptions. Going forward, we will bring you all the current events, as they are happening that week.

Some things will stay in place, such as student birthdays and special announcements, but i'm sure you'll enjoy our new approach to sharing school news with you in this fun and creative way. We'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions, as to what you would like to see and read about in the coming weeks. This is a work in progress and we want to invite our school community to be part of the creative process.

Please share with us your thoughts, ideas and feedback at: or

We're open to suggestions from parents, staff and students and want this to be a continual success from week to week.

Here's to many more successful editions...hope you enjoy the read!
Year 1 City Campus School Trips

Miss Amelia Verralls:

Year 1 visited Florya Aquarium. In science, English and Geography they have been learning about life in the sea. They saw the sharks being fed by divers, which was very exciting.
Year 1 enjoyed their visit to the Bosphorus at Bebek. We looked at good and bad human impact. We were very impressed at how clean the Bosphorus was at Bebek.
Year 5 & 6 Zek Campus Gymnastics

Miss Powell shared with us some pictures of our Year 5 & 6 students practicing their balances during a PE lesson. Excellent work!
Primary Ski Trip to Kartalkaya - Years four, five & six

City Campus PE Teacher and Ski Trip Organiser: James Appleby

The month of February saw a successful BISI Primary Ski Trip to Dorukkaya Ski and Mountain Resort at Kartalkaya, Turkey. A total of 29 students from both the City and Zekeriakoy Campuses enjoyed some fantastic skiing weather throughout the 4 days. Students who had never skied before made excellent progress and by the last day they were able to comfortably ski down the more challenging slopes. The more advanced skiers were challenged with the harder slopes from day one, which they were more than happy to accept! A huge thank you goes to the students who came for their superb behaviour and attitude during the week!

We look forward to organising another successful trip next year.

Happy Birthday to everyone who has celebrated a birthday this week, or who will celebrate theirs over the coming weekend.

Maths Week

Our Head of Mathematics and Year 6 teacher at Zek campus, Ms Cosnett, has been hard at work in preparation for Maths week next week. It's looking set to be a very fun and creative week for both Primary & Secondary. Here's an overview from Ms Cosnett as to what will be happening next week for EYFS & Primary students:

The theme for the day is 'Medieval Fantasy'

Throughout the day, the children will work in teams to complete a number of exciting, mathematical quests, all with the intention of defeating a deadly foe!

To add to the fun, it will also be a dress-up day: think brave princesses and handsome knights, think elven queens and magical wizards, think gruesome goblins and mighty kings.
  • Thursday 14th March - City Campus Maths Day
  • Friday 15th March - Zek Campus Maths Day
  • Friday 15th March (All of EYFS) City, Zek & National School Maths Day (All at ZEK campus!)
And that brings our first edition of ‘Week in, Week out’ to a close. We hope you have enjoyed reading it and wish you all a wonderful weekend ahead.
