Results Class of 2017.

After weeks and weeks of hard work and preparation the IB exams started in May 2017.

When the results arrived early in July it was evident that all the sweat and tears had paid off, with an average score of 35 compared to a world average of 30 this was and outstanding set of results especially from from Sohee Park who gained an overall score of 43 points; which included 7’s in the following subjects: English Language and literature, Psychology, Mathematics, and Visual arts. She also gained the maximum mark of 3 for her combined Extended Essay and TOK. There were other notable scores from; Ashutosh Bhadouria, 41 and Sheida Kiran, 40.

In fact the whole year needs to be congratulated, as every student managed to obtain an overall score of 30 or higher; a feat that is unprecedented at the school.

Not only was it a successful year in terms of results; it was a success in terms of the wide variety of universities to which the students applied for; and were accepted to;

Serra Peker – Berkley (USA)

Berke Turkay – Brown University (USA)

Sheida Kiran – University College London (UCL)

Rashad Huseynli – Kings College London

Olivia Alatan – Georgetown (USA)

Ramish Hussain – University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Canada)

Throughout the two year programme the students not only worked hard on their academic subjects, but made time to play an active full part in the CAS programme which forms an integral part of the Diploma Programme. This started off with the first ever foreign CAS trip, the students took part in an archeological dig; in Bulgaria, in October 2015. They also made a significant contribution to local Istanbul projects and projects happening at the school, notably a mentoring programme within the primary school.

On behalf of all the teachers at the school I would like to congratulate the class of 2017 on an outstanding set of results and wish those all well in their chosen courses at universities around the world.

Well done one and all; you were amazing.

Mr Seef Marsden

IB and KS5 Coordinator.
