Week in, Week out
A Secondary School publication

Hello to you all on your mid-term break, which we're sure everyone was ready for after the busy start to the academic year. Hopefully you're getting time to enjoy the last of the sunny autumn weather before winter officially sets in.

The last week of school before the break saw many events happening inside and outside of school. Thank you to all parents who attended the IGCSE & IB open morning, followed by parent-teacher meetings in the afternoon. We hope you're all happy with the progress of your children so far, but we've a long way ahead before the year is out and we will continue to encourage and support our students as the term progresses.

The main event of the last week, however, was Sports Day, which took place on Monday at Enka track. Below you will see our picture gallery from the day captured by Mr Mayer & Mr Robinson.

Our science department continued to be busy and it was the turn of our Year 13 students last week to take to the lab to conduct their experiments as part of their final grades for the year.

Finishing with a Halloween theme on the last Friday of the half term, our students enjoyed the final mufti before school closed for the mid-term break. There are plenty of school events planned for the next half-term and our school production isn't far away. Rehearsals are in full swing and we can't wait to see what our creative arts team produce this year. We'll keep you posted in the next month with performance dates and ticket sales. Don't miss out, as we're sure our students have a wonderful performance in store for us all.

We hope you enjoy catching up on the week.

Happy reading!
Sports Day

On the final Monday morning before mid term break our students arrived at Zek Campus ready to take on the biggest event of the week: Sports Day. Dressed in house colours to represent their teams, the students headed to Enka track to enjoy the day.

Parents gathered at Enka Stadium to support our students on the track and field, and thanks to the kind autumn weather, the rain held off for another great Sports Day, which was captured by Mr Mayer & Mr Robinson (our school photographers).

Keep scrolling to see the day's events in pictures (full coverage is on the BISI website gallery).

Eco Wednesday (on a Thursday)

Ms Elemara shares with us tips for an eco-friendly Halloween, helping us to be a little more creative with our pumpkins and costumes for the spooky holiday.

Year 13 Practical Assessments

Mr Clark - Chemistry Teacher

The year 13 Chemists have been conducting their practical assessments this week. Each student has to design their own unique investigation and collect sufficient data in limited time. This counts for 20% of their entire course.

Aral is investigating electrocrystalisation of tin. Daghan is investigating the order of reaction of an antacid with stomach acid. Berke is investigating the effect of temperature on the hydrolysis of aspirin. Rahaf is investigating the electrolysis of copper II sulfate solution. Tai is investigating the electroplating of zinc on steel plates.
PTA Meeting - Monday 4 November at 09:00

The next PTA meeting will be held in the primary building on Monday 4 November at 09:00.

All parents are welcome to join.

We hope to see you there!

And that brings us to the end of this week's edition. We hope you're all having a wonderful break and look forward to seeing you all next week.

School will be open on Monday 4 November at the usual time of 08:45.

Wishing you all a restful weekend ahead.
