Week in, Week out
A Pre & Primary School publication

Welcome back to another edition of Week In, Week Out everyone. This week, we will see more of the EYFS students who have been learning about transport and Year 1 students who took a very interesting trip to Türkiye İş Bankası Museum where they learned about Turkey's oldest bank. Another exciting school trip  that took place this week was by our Year 3 students who went to the Rahmi Koç Museum.

Now let's talk a little bit about art! The students of City Campus art club learned about graffiti art and pop art in Keith Haring style this week. Make sure to scroll down to see the wonderful photos!
Year 1 Trip to Türkiye İş Bankası Museum

Year 1 National class went to Türkiye İş Bankası Museum in Eminönü this week!

We attended workshops which told us all about Turkey's oldest bank.  We saw lots of artifacts from the past and learnt about Atatürk's involvement with the bank.  We saw where money and valuables were stored many years ago by entering the vaults and safes!  We also learnt about money boxes from the past and present and how to keep our own money safe.
A lovely day out!

Learning about Transport
This week, the children in EYFS at the City Campus have been learning about metro systems. We talked a lot about what the metro is and how it works in different cities around the world. Following on from this, we decided to design our own metro line. First, we thought about which colours our logo should be, then each child designed a station. Finally, We stuck all of the stations on a large piece of paper and connected them together to make our own metro line, which the children named ‘School Line’.

Art Club
Children in Etiler Art Club explored pop art and graffiti art in Keith Haring style this week. They were very excited to start the project once they learned about his life and his work. First they posed like Haring people; dancing, jumping, running, etc. Then they got their photos printed out. They drew around their own figures with thick cartoonish outlines on a tracing paper. And finally put objects around to add emphasis on the movement. Don’t you think their artwork is vibrating with energy?
Year 3 Trip to Rahmi Koç Museum
On Wednesday,  Year 3 students visited Rahmi Koc Museum. In class  they were preparing their personal history talks which focus on changes that have occurred in their families. The Koc Museum provided the children with lots of discussion points as they looked at the displays.
