Admissions FAQ

When should I start the application process?
We recommend you submit your application in January/February in order to join us for the start of the next academic year in August.  If you are planning to join BISI in the course of the academic year, please submit your application as soon as possible.

Are there any entrance exams at BISI?
Students at secondary level are expected to take a CAT (Cognitive Aptitude Test).  This test is purely used as a tool for BISI to evaluate the student’s ‘Learning Skills and Abilities’.

How does my child get to and from school?
Most students use our comprehensive school bus service offered at both campuses (AZ-AL).  However, some parents drive to school themselves and some students are brought by their family's driver.

Does BISI accept students who do not speak English?
Many students attending BISI are not native English speakers. We provide support and programmes aimed to develop the students' English proficiency as rapidly as possible to permit full participation in all academic and social aspects of school life. Students are accepted into BISI with little or no English from Pre School up to and including Year 8. After this, students are tested to see if, with ESL support, they will be able to meet the expectations of the IB Diploma Program.

Does BISI offer support for students with special educational needs?
BISI has a Special Educational Needs Coordinator for both the Primary School and Secondary School and can provide assistance for students with specific educational needs. In the best interest of the child, parents who are aware of or who suspect that their child has special needs should make the school aware of this during the application process to ensure your child’s needs can be met.

My child will be 4 years old on the 6th September, as he only misses the cut off date by a few days, can he be enrolled in your Reception class?

No. We strictly observe our cut-off date (1st September).  Therefore your child will be in Pre School. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY.

If your question is unanswered, please contact Helen Kiran on communications@bis.k12.tr
